Veterans Treatment Court Mentor Program: Supporting Veterans Through Guidance and Encouragement

For veterans navigating the legal system, the Veterans Treatment Court Mentor Program offers a vital lifeline of support, encouragement, and guidance. Designed for veterans by veterans, this program pairs participants with experienced mentors to help them through the court process and beyond.

What Is the Mentor Program?

Participants in the Veterans Treatment Court are eligible to receive free mentorship from U.S. Armed Forces veterans, many of whom have combat experience. These mentors serve as "battle buddies," offering one-on-one support to veterans during and after their court appearances.

Mentors are not a substitute for legal counsel or VA professionals, but they provide:

  • Guidance in navigating the court system

  • Assistance accessing VA and local resources

  • Support and encouragement to comply with treatment agreements

  • Connections to essential community resources, such as housing and employment services

Why Choose a Mentor?

Mentors listen to your concerns, share their experiences, and offer confidential feedback that only a fellow veteran can provide. They help build trust and create a supportive environment tailored to your unique challenges.

How to Get Involved

Veterans Treatment Court participants can meet with mentors every Monday from 1-2 p.m. for coffee and light refreshments in Room L87 (Lower Level) when court is in session.

For more information, contact Mentor Coordinator Ken Rosenblum at 516.244.1965 or nassauvmentors@gmail.com.

Together, we can create a path forward for our veterans, providing them with the tools and support they need to succeed.
